1m yuan welcomes

FIFTEEN Chinese professionals returning from overseas each received 1 million yuan (US$158,730) from Yuhang District government last week.
Two are included in the national "Thousand People Plan" while the other 13 are covered by an initiative by Zhejiang Province government.
In 2008, the central government launched the "Thousand People Plan" to attract high-level professionals living overseas to come back and make contributions to the progress of China.
Local government also launched similar programs across the nation.
To date, 316 professionals - including last week's 15 - have settled in Zhejiang Future Science and Technology City in Yuhang District, bringing in 131 high-tech projects, covering IT, biomedicine, new energy, new materials, creative industries and financial services.
The science city has grown from 10 square kilometers to 113 square kilometers, and last year gained the status of national science and technology park for overseas professionals.
