2 new bird flu cases

Zhejiang health authorities reported two new H7N9 flu cases this week, both in Hangzhou. A 29-year-old farmer, surnamed Lin, in Binjiang District and a 58-year-old construction worker, surnamed Gu, in Xiaoshan District were diagnosed with bird flu on Monday in a hospital affiliated with Zhejiang University.
Gu is in critical condition and Lin in serious condition. Both men had no direct contact with live poultry the week before, said Li Lanjuan, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Lin and Gu are the first two confirmed H7N9 cases in Hangzhou this year. Zhejiang Province has reported 11 new cases so far this year. Patient ages were 28-79.
