20 minutes鈥 drive

IT will take only around 20 minutes to drive across the city after Zizhi Tunnel and Zhipu Road are put into service next month.
Work on Zizhi Tunnel, a link between Zijingang Road and Zhipu Road, will be finished this month. The 14.4-kilometer tunnel is the longest in China and consists of three tubes and two culverts. The six-lane tunnel can bring relief to roads in the West Lake area.
With a speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour, Zizhi Tunnel will take about 15 minutes to drive through.
Zhipu Road, which will connect Zizhi Tunnel and Zhijiang Bridge, will be opened to traffic before the end of August.
With both the tunnel and the road in use next month, it will take about 20 minutes to drive from Xixi area in the west to the Binjiang area in the east.
