30 rivers cleaned
Hangzhou has cleaned 30 black and odorous rivers in the city this year, five more than last year, Hangzhou River Monitoring Center said this week.
The dredging involves Xiacheng, Jianggan, Gongshu, Xihu and Xiaoshan districts and the Hangzhou Development Zone. The center will launch a test of water quality of the 30 rivers to check whether the cleaning is successful. The center plans to clean 47 rivers next year and by 2015 no black and odorous rivers will exist within the Hangzhou Raocheng Expressway.
Citizens can call 12319 to report black and odorous rivers to the urban management department, officials said.
