HANGZHOU is to add 48,000 parking spaces downtown this year to ease the city's chronic parking problem. Officials are now collecting public feedback on a plan to build a parking lot under the crossroad of Yuhangtang Road and Zijingang Road for 183 cars.
The city has five parking lots underneath parks, green areas and school playgrounds. The largest can hold 800 cars.
The number of cars in Hangzhou has exceeded 1 million, with about 400 new cars added each day.
