5kg of ‘ice’ seized
Hangzhou police busted a drug trafficking ring recently and seized 5 kilograms of methamphetamine — also known as “ice” — and a handgun.
Seven suspects were arrested, with the alleged leader a 43-year-old man surnamed Yang from central China’s Hunan Province, who owns a drugstore in Xiaoshan District.
Police held a man in early January on suspicion of selling the drug. He is said to have confessed to buying 100 grams of methamphetamine from a contact surnamed Xiang, a pharmacist.
Based on his information, police said they were able to track down Xiang in a drugstore in Xiaoshan District.
According to police, Xiang was hired by his boss surnamed Yang who frequently traveled to Guangzhou in southern China’s Guangdong Province to buy the drug and had Xiang sell it in a room upstairs from Yang’s drugstore.
On March 3, Yang went to Guangzhou with two other men and returned to Xiaoshan on the night of March 6. Police held them and four other suspects and uncovered the drugs and a handgun in their car.
Investigations are continuing.
