95,000 violations
BETWEEN the launch of Hangzhou's campaign against eight serious illegal traffic acts on March 7 and April 10, some 95,000 illegal acts were recorded, said police.
Nearly half of the offences took place on 10 major routes, said officers. Jaywalking accounted for 7,241 of these.
In a bid to reduce offences, traffic police are to use cameras to catch jaywalkers at crossings, while busy roads will get new types of traffic lights.
In another measure, improperly parked vehicles will be taken to parking lots and the owners punished, said officers.
