A new Qiantang River tunnel

The digging of Wangjiang Tunnel, another Qiantang River tunnel to connect Binjiang District with downtown, started on Monday.
The new tunnel is 3,587 meters long with four lanes in each direction and a top speed of 60 kilometers per hour. It will connect Wangjiang Road in the north with Jianghui Road in the south.
The tunnel is between Qianjiang No. 3 Bridge and Qianjiang No. 4 Bridge. The north end is at the crossing of Qiutao Elevated Road and Wangjiang Road E. in Shangcheng District, and the south end is at the crossing of Jiangnan Avenue and Jianghui Road in Binjiang District.
Expected to help relieve the traffic burden of 11 existing river crossings, construction of the new tunnel will be completed by the end of 2019.
