Alipay strikes deal
ALL tourism and service companies in Hangzhou will use Alipay, a third-party online payment service, according to a meeting between the municipal government and Alibaba Group recently.
Alipay, China’s largest online payment company, is fleshing out its plan to cover all catering, hotel, transportation, tourism, retail and entertainment businesses in the city.
Tmall, an online shopping site also owned by Alibaba, recently sent about 3,000 parcels in a container to Xiasha Export Processing Zone. Consumers who bought overseas goods on Tmall.hk received their parcels in three days. Previously, they had to wait about two weeks. Tmall and Hangzhou Customs reached an agreement in March to make payment of import duties easy and fast. The city signed a strategic cooperation deal with Alibaba in December.
