Amateurs make lasting impression
MORE than 20,000 shutterbugs have been inspired to snap away and enter Hangzhou Citizen Photography Week. Love, protect and serve the city, the photographers say, as they show the spirit of Hangzhou.
Beginning this week Shanghai Daily features photos that have been selected as part of four different series.
The first series is “My City, My Home.”
1. “My City, My Home” by Ding Haijun
The photo depicts subjects made of herbs and fruits including coriander leaves, watermelon peels and shallots. Everything is put on a glass above a light box. This style of photography is a big hobby for Ding.
2. “Birds at West Lake” by Hangzhou Lao Pan
There are several nature photography associations in Hangzhou and they’ve earned good reputations by taking great photos of Hangzhou’s natural scenery. Most of the members in such associations are retired.
3. “Beautiful Pose” by Yu A
A good photo requires strong composition, nice lighting, some meaning and a bit of luck. This photo shows that being in the right place at the right time can lead to a great photo.
West Lake is often packed with amateur photographers who are armed with a variety of zoom and wide-angle lenses. They are all hoping to capture a beautiful moment like this one.
