Ancient relics found

A historical site of Shangzhou Period (c. 16th century-256 BC) was unearthed near Xiang Lake, Xiaoshan District.

Excavation work started on March 21 and finished on July 29. The site in the north of Laohudong Village was a tea garden. Relics of that period are uncommon in Zhejiang Province.

A total of 34 graves from the Warring States Period (476-221 BC) and the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) were excavated, including a special octagon-shaped tomb and a drainage-equipped tomb.

These graves provide new material for archeological research.
