Animation festival
THE 10th China International Cartoon and Animation Festival will begin on April 28 at Baima Lake Animation Square, Binjiang District. The six-day festival includes 47 events at 10 venues around Hangzhou.
The highlight is expected to be a Transformers exhibition that will include replicas of Optimus Prime, Sentinel Prime and Bumblebee.
The first China International Comics Fair will coincide with the festival. About 400 works, including characters like Shrek, Mr Bean, Crayon Shin-chan and Doraemon, from 60 countries and regions have already been confirmed for the fair.
Other events include the debut of a stage drama adapted from famous cartoonist Xiao Yanzhong’s “A Batch of Stupid Thieves.” A philharmonic orchestra will give a concert featuring the theme songs and background music from famous cartoons.
The Hangzhou Metro Group has agreed to decorate the exterior of one subway train with cartoon characters and images for the festival.
