Aomori connected
Japanese authorities from Aomori Prefecture recently announced that regular flight service connecting Aomori City and Hangzhou will begin in January. The round-trip once-a-week flights by Beijing Capital Airlines will be the first between the northern Tohoku city and a Chinese city.
Foreign visitors to Japan numbered an estimated record 16.32 million for the year through October, with tourists from the Chinese mainland accounting for about 26 percent of them.
In an attempt to attract more Chinese tourists, the Aomori government also announced that it will list 17 million yen (US$139,400) in its fiscal-year 2015 supplementary budget to support the development of travel agencies and publicize the prefecture’s tourist attractions in China.
