Famous artist Han Meilin donated more than 500 of his own works to Hangzhou government.
Han, 80, donated 303 paintings, 21 calligraphies, 15 sculptures, 108 pieces of porcelain and 53 folk artworks.
Han received the “Peace Artist” title from UNESCO on October 12.
He donated more than 1,000 artworks to the Hangzhou government in 2005 when the Han Meilin Art Museum was set up in Hangzhou Botanic Garden to preserve, display and study his creations.
The Han Meilin Art Museum has seven exhibition areas.
There are plans to add an additional 1,500 square meters of exhibition space in a new building beside the museum. The new hall is expected to be completed in 2017.
