At the double
DOUBLE-DECKER buses are set to reappear in Hangzhou soon, and this time they will be more comfortable and environmentally friendly.
They will have larger windows for sightseeing, air-conditioning and heating and use natural gas to power their engines in an environmentally friendly way, say officials.
The double deckers feature 46 seats on the upper deck and 15 seats below.
Made by Foton Motors, each will cost around 1 million yuan (US$158,730), according to the public bus operator.
During the peak of their operation in Hangzhou, there were 117 double-deckers running on four bus routes, including bus No. 10, 11, 19 and 31.
The buses started operating in 1996 and stopped running in 2009.
