Awards for talents
DRUGS company boss Ding Lieming and writer Mai Jia were among 20 people recognized at the third Hangzhou Outstanding Talents Awards, which took place last week.
Each prizewinner received 200,000 yuan (US$32,387).
Ding is the chairman of Betapharma, a pharmaceuticals company which developed anti-cancer drug Conmana and owns the independent intellectual property rights to the drug.
Mai Jia is a member of the Hangzhou Literature and Arts Association and considered a pioneer of China's spy literature, plus film and television writing.
The Hangzhou Outstanding Talents Awards are the highest honor given to the city's yearly outstanding talents.
