Billions for Anji
Five 10-billion-yuan (US$1.54 billion) programs were initiated in Zhejiang Province’s Anji County last month, aiming to modernize the county, which is currently most known for its bamboo.
The programs will concentrate on the construction of a pumped storage power station, the extension of a bullet train railway, the establishment of a town for start-ups, and for overall improvements of local infrastructure.
The under-construction power station is expected to have one of the largest installed capacities in the world.
The railway will connect the county with Henan and Anhui provinces once it is finished in about five years.
The town will include new infrastructure like parks and boulevards that add more green to the place. A storage center is expected to make 10 billion yuan annually.
