Blast of fireworks
THE magnificent and much anticipated fireworks show that is synonymous with the West Lake International Expo will return to West Lake on October 13.
Altogether 150,000 fireworks will be set off; 60,000 will light up the sky from 7:45pm to 8:25pm beside West Lake. The remaining fireworks will be set off beside the Grand Canal.
Visitors can watch the fireworks show from ticket zones or in free areas, including Hubin Road, Beishan Street and Nanshan Road. More than 100,000 people are expected to watch the show.
West Lake International Expo starts on October 13 and runs until November 3. The Hangzhou city government aims to attract US$1 billion in foreign investment, 10 billion yuan (US$1.59 billion) in domestic investment, trade transactions worth 10 billion yuan and 10 million visitors this year. A fireworks show for the expo was last held beside West Lake in 2009.
