Body parts printed

A team of scientists with Hangzhou Dianzi University has developed a 3D printer that can print biological materials and living cells, the team announced yesterday.

The scientists said the 3D printer can print an object in a time ranging from less than an hour to several days. A small ear could be printed in about 50 minutes and would need additional time to solidify.

They said artificially made human body parts can be printed for transplant and their next goal, in about 10 to 20 years, is to print artificial livers and kidneys for transplant.
