Building spree

Xiaoshan District is in the midst of a building spree as Hangzhou gears up to host the 2016 G20 summit and the Asian Games in 2022.

Among dozens of projects now underway across the city, the Airport Highway connecting downtown Hanghzou with the Xiaoshan International Airport could be completed as early as April, in time to benefit the G20 summit slated for September, according to District Director Lu Chunqiang.

The project will see the reconstruction of a two-level highway, from the northwest of the former Qianjiang Sanqiao Toll Station to the gate of Xiaoshan Airport, covering a total length of 19.5 kilometers.

Meanwhile, for the 2022 Asian Games, the district is accelerating the construction of a swimming pool and a stadium covering nearly 400,000 square meters.
