Bullet train tested

With the Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway put on a test run last week, Hangzhou travelers will be able to reach Shenzhen in three hours, instead of 16 at present, by bullet train later this year.

The 502-kilometer new rail line is designed with a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour and bullet trains will cover the distance in three hours.

A second-class seat will cost 445 yuan, only 64 percent of the lowest airplane fare plus tax.

With the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway scheduled to be open in 2015, Hangzhou travelers can go directly to Guangzhou and Hong Kong by bullet train.
