Bullet train trials

TESTING on the Hangzhou-Nanjing and Hangzhou-Ningbo high-speed railways have begun. These began on March 1 and will continue for 100 days. Both lines are expected to start operation at the beginning of July.

The railways will feature a new CRH380D high-speed train manufactured by Qingdao-based Bombardier Sifang Transportation Ltd for the test run. The train can reach speeds of 380 kilometers per hour during regular operation. A trip from Hangzhou to Nanjing will take about 50 minutes with an initial speed limit of 300 kilometers per hour.

Twenty CRH380D trains are due to be delivered to the Shanghai Railway Bureau in June.
