Bus drive
HANGZHOU plans to introduce 50 kilometers of new bus lanes and upgrade the average speed of buses during rush hours by 20 percent this year, in an effort to persuade more residents to opt for public transport, officials said last week.
Buses currently operate at just 8 to 9 kilometers per hour during peak periods.
A total of 300 new buses and 5,000 public bicycles are expected to be put into use and the city will introduce 10 percent more new bus routes than a year ago.
