Bus-only lanes

HANGZHOU has added 15 bus-only lanes stretching more than 80 kilometers in the downtown area, including Zhonghe Road and Qingchun Road.

After all the lines, signs and markings are completed, Hangzhou will have 40 roads with a total of 270 kilometers of bus-only lanes.

The bus-only lane lines usually “disappear” 30 meters from the beginning and end of roads, which allows cars to use the lane in these places.

After years of observation and analysis, Hangzhou police say it will help better utilize roads and improve traffic efficiency.

School buses and large and medium-sized passenger buses with yellow plates are allowed to use the lanes. On roads where there are only two lanes and one is a bus-only lane, other vehicles will be able to use it on weekends and public holidays. Other vehicles can also use the lanes on workdays before 7am and after 10pm.
