Canal factories relocated
All the factories and enterprises in the west area of the Grand Canal New City have been relocated, according to a Metropolitan Express report.
“The area will be developed into a Grand Canal harbor, similar to Darling Harbour in Sydney,” said a leader of Hangzhou Grand Canal Group, the developer of the area. It will cover a total planned area of 12.52 square kilometers.
The core of the Grand Canal New City will be the historical and landscape corridor along the banks of the river.
In addition, a traditional small town and a cultural experience park will be set up to attract visitors. A peninsula and two harbors will be set up for commerce, leisure, entertainment and cultural exhibitions.
The Grand Canal New City will be a key area for development in the north of Hangzhou.
