The autumn auction of the Xiling Seal Society, one of the most famous Chinese traditional culture societies on China’s mainland, will have its preview through today, and this time the auction highlights manuscripts from 240 worldwide celebrities from the 19th to the 21st centuries.

The manuscripts include those from Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy, Arthur Conan Doyle, Victor Hugo, Emile Zola, Alexandre Dumas, Albert Einstein, Romain Rolland, Alice Munro, Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt.

The auction also includes photos with signatures of Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Ingrid Bergman as well as a letter by Hepburn.

And a letter by J.R.R. Tolkien is expected to bring 100,000 yuan (US$16,451) since it mentions “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings,” his two most important works.

It includes works from Chinese art masters such as Wu Changshuo, Wu Guanzhong and Qi Baishi.

The preview runs through today at the World Trade Center and the auction will be held from tomorrow to December 17 at the Zhejiang Narada Grand Hotel.
