China City Convention and Exhibition Summit

THE Third China City Convention and Exhibition Summit 2010 opened last Saturday at Xiaoshan, Hangzhou, and the League of Chinese Cities of Convention and Exhibition was set up.

At the opening ceremony, representatives from 29 domestic cities stamped their cities' seals on the "League Initiative" written in traditional Chinese calligraphy.

The initiative says that the league will promote the trans-regional connection between cities, further resource integration in the industry, fasten the steps to cultivating and developing unique business modes and brands, and bring the industry in line with international practice.

"The foundation of the league will promote the healthy development of China's convention and exhibition industry, and therefore lead the industry to be geared to international standards," said Yu Xiaosong, former president of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

He also mentioned that the development of the convention and exhibition industry will boost the city's development of economy infrastructure and tourism.

Organized by Hangzhou Municipal Government and the China Convention and Exhibition Society, the summit consists of academic conferences, plenary meetings and industry conferences.

The academic conferences concentrate on how to educate qualified personnel in this industry, and the plenary meetings and industry conferences focus on how to use the expo's influence to further develop China's convention and exhibition industry.
