City best for retirees

Hangzhou topped other Chinese mainland cities as the most suitable place for retirement, according to an article in the Chinese edition of Fortune magazine published recently.
Hangzhou is followed by Qingdao, Chengdu, Zhuhai and Xiamen as the most suitable cities for retirees. Hangzhou has occupied the top spot for three years in a row.
The magazine polled 25,000 senior executives chosen from its reader database and received 1,038 responses to its questionnaire from May 18 to June 18. The questionnaire covered quality of living, social welfare and cultural environment.
However, some people had some fun with the list.
One netizen named “Youzi9811” joked that Hangzhou is hotter than Guangdong in summer and colder than northeast China in winter. Its traffic is worse than Beijing’s and its housing prices are more expensive than those in Shanghai, the jokester said.
