The Hangzhou city government unveiled its annual “10 practical projects” list on its official website last week. Each year, authorities pursue 10 projects or undertakings aimed at improving quality of life for local residents. This year, the government has set its sights on, among other things, improving air and water quality across the city; improving traffic and parking; providing health checks to more than 300,000 retired workers; strengthening food safety; and improving the local social welfare system.
To prepare for the G20 summit in September, authorities in Hangzhou are also pushing forward improvements to the Xiaoshan Airport, setting up new medical facilities and overseeing completion of several major transport infrastructure upgrades.
