City lures top talent

THE State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs announced the establishment of an international human resources center in Hangzhou at the 2016 Zhejiang International Talent Exchange and Project Cooperation Conference.

It is the first international human resources hub in China and is meant to help Hangzhou recruit skilled professionals from around the world.

To make Hangzhou a leading labor market and innovation center in China, the city government last week announced 22 new measures to attract talent, including offers of 100 million yuan (US$14.75 million) in subsidies for entrepreneurs with promising projects, and 5 million yuan in financial aid for employment agencies.

Since the city introduced a 27-point guide on talent recruitment in January of 2015, it has attracted 52 high-caliber professionals and provided permanent residency to 20,730 experts from other parts of China. The city government also provided 250 million yuan in loans to business startups.

The Zhejiang International Talent Exchange and Project Cooperation Conference is an annual event initiated in 2009. Over 3,180 overseas entrepreneurs presented 3,678 projects at the conference. A total of 755 deals were signed with Zhejiang investors, involving 10.2 billion yuan.
