Colleges take Alipay

Five universities in Hangzhou now accept tuition payment by Alipay, a third-party payment service, as the new semester begins next month.
Zhejiang University, China Academy of Art, Zhejiang Media College, Hangzhou Normal University and Zhejiang Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering are among the 29 schools nationwide to accept Alipay.
“Alipay can make tuition payment more convenient and reduce long queues,” said Lu Ming, an official with Zhejiang Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
Some students tweeted jokingly that with the use of Alipay, they would not release the money to their schools unless they are totally satisfied with their courses and have passed the exams.
“We only opened the instant payment function of Alipay for school users. The user comment function is not available,” said an Alipay employee surnamed Zhu.
