HANGZHOU is planning to build an international commercial complex, expected to cover 7.6 square kilometers, in the east of the city.

The complex, Hangzhou International Trade Center (HITC), will be located near Metro's Qiaosi Station in Jianggan District, combining shopping, entertainment, restaurants, office buildings and residences.

Construction on the complex will start at the end of this year. A group of retail giants, including Walmart and IKEA will open outlets in the complex.

The complex will also be home to some 70,000 residents in the future. Five elementary schools, two middle schools and nine kindergartens are on the blueprint.
