WITH winter here, a snow-sweeping vehicle made its debut in a city emergency drill last week.
The van-sized vehicle has a special sprayer near the wheels which emits blast of hot air - as high as 500-600 degrees Celsius - to deal with snow and ice. The blast of air can clear snow piled up to 20 centimeters high, said an official.
The city government hopes the initiative will ensure traffic won't be hit on days when there is ice or heavy snow.
However, drivers must be trained before they can operating the vehicle on the roads as it has precise instrument panels in the cab, added officials.
