Cool off in shelters
HANGZHOU residents can enjoy relief from hot weather by staying in 10 air-raid shelters opened to the public on Monday.
The underground shelters will open daily from 8:30am to 10:30pm free of charge except for the ones under the Forest Bar and Baoli Mountain Villa. The two shelters will open from 8:30am to 5pm.
Hangzhou turned its air-raid shelters into public cooling facilities as early as 2003 in the hot months of July and August. Ventilation and wireless service have been upgraded for people cooling off in the shelters, which offer benches, chairs and water supplies.
