Country-style fest

A country-style New Year celebration is underway at Thousand Islands Lake in Chun’an County, highlighted by activities such as dragon dances, a temple fair and pig-head competitions.
In Zhaxi Village, over 100 households will offer sacrifices, including pig’s heads, to their ancestors, and in Zhufeng Village a competition to determine whose pig head is “prettiest” and “largest” will be a highlight of the festival.
An eye-catching performance will be held on the sixth day of the Chinese New Year in Fushan Village.
Eight men will push a wheeled cart, on which four young girls sing and dance on a windmill-like structure that swirls slowly.
Admission is 120 yuan but will be free from January 28 until February 1.
