Crackdown continues
HANGZHOU transport authorities are cracking down on rule-breaking drivers and have installed more than 200 surveillance cameras at major roads and intersections.
Cameras were also installed on bus stations and in scenic areas to prevent cabbies from refusing customers for short-distance trips, or forcing people to take overpriced rides.
This is the third round of traffic crackdowns this year. The two previous rounds were focused on drivers of long-haul buses before the Spring Festival travel rush. So far, 22 bus drivers have been punished for misconduct.
Authorities have said they will install surveillance cameras on all taxis in Hangzhou. About 3,000 of the 7,000 taxis have already been equipped with the cameras.
