Creativity on display at West Lake

FOLLOWING in the footsteps of the World Expo in Shanghai, Hangzhou is using its own West Lake Expo to prove that it can also display its potential on an international stage. Xu Wenwen takes a look at some of the events that have already taken place.
As the World Expo Shanghai comes to an end, Hangzhou's own West Lake International Expo began on Saturday, with a series of related conferences and fairs to follow.
During the past week, Hangzhou has received hundreds of distinguished guests, including sister city mayors, as a variety of expo activities have taken place.
The government believes the expo will definitely push Hangzhou's economy forward.
"Last year's West Lake Expo has contributed 0.51 percent of the local gross domestic product," said Zhang Jianting, the vice mayor of Hangzhou.
"Hangzhou will use the expo to present itself as a strong competitor in the convention and exhibition industry," Zhang added.
Below are details of some of the events that occurred last weekend.
