Dance studio plan
YANG Liping, one of China's most famous ethnic dancers, plans to perform her famous "Peacock" role in the final performances of her career in Hangzhou from September 28 to 30 at Hangzhou Theater.
Yang says she will set up a studio in Hangzhou to choreograph new dance works after she retires from performing. It is reported that she has been looking at sites beside West Lake and at Xixi Wetland.
Yang has been called the "Sorceress of Dance," the "Goddess of Dance" and the "Peacock Princess" because of her majestic stage performances.
The lithe performer, who stands 165 centimeters tall and weighs just 46 kilograms, is a native of Yunnan Province, where she learned dancing as a child.
