Digging deep at Liangzhu

THE ZHEJIANG Cultural Heritage Bureau has announced its list of the top 10 archeological discoveries in the province. The unearthed imperial city of Liangzhu in Yuhang District ranked first this year.
Archeologists have spent more than 80 years excavating Liangzhu, from which many precious relics have been unearthed. However, these earlier discoveries were mainly from the rim of the city.
This year, the center of Liangzhu was finally brought to the light.
A total of 14 tombs and 644 relics were discovered this time. Funerary objects and burial methods provide archeologists with an abundance of information about the Liangzhu culture.
