Donors honored

Spring Breeze, a charity program based in Hangzhou, has received 1.55 billion yuan (US$243 million) in cash donations since it was launched 15 years ago. During this same period, the program has also benefitted 1.23 million needy families, according to Zhao Yide, Hangzhou’s Party Secretary.
At a ceremony held last week, individual donors Huang Xinsheng and Xi Chuanxi as well as corporate donors Hangzhou Wahaha Group and 14 other businesses were honored for their substantial support. Huang donated 150,000 yuan (US$22,779) in the past two years. Xi, who benefited from the charity of others after becoming disabled two years, has donated 50,000 yuan to Spring Breeze.
Many city officials and leaders of state-owned companies attended the ceremony, which also marked the start of this year’s fundraising activities.
