Double-deckers
DOUBLE-DECKER buses are to reappear on Yan'an Road, the busiest street in the city, said the Hangzhou Public Transport Group. But the exact date hasn't yet been decided.
The buses have larger windows for sightseeing, air-conditioning and engines that use natural gas to reduce emissions. Tickets will cost no more than 5 yuan, company officials said.
There are 46 seats on the upper decker and 15 seats below. Initially, 10 such buses will run on the route along Yan'an Road and some scenic spots along the West Lake.
During the peak of their operation, there were 117 double-deckers running on four routes - Bus No. 10, 11, 19 and 31. They were phased out in 2009, 13 years after their debut.
