East versus West exhibition
An exhibition promoting exchanges on habitat aesthetics, between the East and the West, was unveiled at the Dragon Hotel, Hangzhou, on Tuesday.
The exhibit, on display for three months, intends to tell people “beauty can bridge the ancient with the current, the East with the West.”
Showpieces on display include Chinese furniture designed by Shen Ping, a famous furniture designer, and Zhou Mo, an expert on ancient Chinese cabinet wood in the Ming (1368-1644)and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, and Western furniture designed by companies such as HC28, For D. Casa, Flexform and Porada.
An inkslab by sculptor Lu Zhirong; a guqin (a Chinese plucked string instrument) by guqin-maker Wang Peng; works of calligraphy by Peking University Professor Xu Tianjin are also among the items of exhibition.
