E-commerce plan
HANGZHOU Mayor Shao Zhanwei said last week the city will accelerate development of e-commerce and express delivery services, aiming to become a leader in both segments nationwide.
In 2011, e-commerce business in the city posted a 65 percent jump in revenue from a year earlier to 12.7 billion yuan (US$2 billion).
The city is now home to more than 400 express delivery companies, including branches of the top four express firms in the world.
The city government will seek to support leading companies in the two industries and work to convince them to open a headquarters in Hangzhou.
