E-commerce zone

Hangzhou was recently given the green light by the State Council to establish the China (Hangzhou) Cross-border E-commerce Pilot Zone to encourage foreign trade and industrial restructuring.

Many foreign e-commerce companies operate in Xiasha Industrial Park, which opened last May. They include 10 e-commerce companies, 18 shopping websites and 20 e-commerce service providers. Officials said another 194 e-commerce companies from 18 countries and regions want to move to the park.

In the past 10 months, the park achieved 290 million yuan (US$46.3 million) in cross-border online trade — some 1.3 million orders. Thirty-five enterprises moved to the park with registered capital each exceeding 200 million yuan.

The State Council requires the Hangzhou e-commerce zone to focus on innovation, technical standards, procedure and supervision of cross-border e-commerce and introduce its successful practices across the country.
