Emission standard
HANGZHOU will adopt the National IV emission standard, the equivalent to Euro IV, next month.
Gas prices are expected to rise 0.3 yuan (5 US cents) per liter as a result, industry insiders said.
It is part of a national drive to upgrade fuel quality to meet stricter emission standards this year, according to a central government plan.
Since 2011, Hangzhou residents have had to buy cars that meet the National IV standards, otherwise they can't get car license plates.
Locally registered vehicles are tested every two years to see they meet the emission standard.
