Zhejiang Province will implement the National V emission standard for new vehicles from April 1. National V is equivalent to Euro V. Automobiles with lower emission standards will not be allowed to register in the province.
However, vehicles with lower emission standards already in use in the province will not be affected, according to the provincial department of environmental protection.
Zhejiang is among the first 11 provinces and municipalities to adopt the National V emission standard. The other 10 are Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Fujian, Shandong, Guangdong and Hainan.
