Xizi Otis Elevator Co Ltd will supply 30 energy-saving GeN2 elevator systems to the new 80,000-seat Olympic Sports Center in Hangzhou. Xizi Otis is a subsidiary of Otis Elevator (China) Investment Co Ltd, which is a part of Otis, a unit of United Technologies Corp.
Located on the southern bank of Qiantang River, Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center will be similar to the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest) in Beijing. In addition to the main stadium, which is due for completion by the end of this year, the Sports Center will provide an 18,000-seat gymnasium and facilities for swimming, tennis, softball, hockey and athletics, among others. It is designed to host world-class international, regional and national games. A new landmark building complex in Zhejiang Province, the facility is one of the key infrastructure projects of Hangzhou’s 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015).
