THE trip from Hangzhou to Shanghai by high-speed rail will be shortened to about 40 minutes with the July opening of Hangzhou East Railway Station.
Currently, passengers embark at the Hangzhou Railway Station and the 160-kilometer journey takes at least 50 minutes as trains have to slow down on a section which isn't part of the high-speed network.
With the new station opening, trains will be able to travel at 300 kilometers per hour all the way to Shanghai.
