Firecracker ban
The traditional practice of setting of fireworks to ward of evil and invoke good luck for the Lunar New Year has been banned in the city until February 14 to reduce air pollution.
Many companies and businesses usually set of fireworks for good luck on the first working day after the seven-day holiday, but this year many companies promised not to light firecrackers. Police increased their patrols to halt fireworks today.
The ban will be lifted on February 14, the Lantern Festival and last day for the Lunar New Year celebrations.
