Foreign trade firms get support
THE Hangzhou Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau has launched two online platforms - Foreign Trade Expert Service Platform and External Department Service Platform - to provide more support to foreign trade enterprises in the city.
From now on, all Hangzhou foreign trade enterprises can get immediate consultation service for problems they encounter.
Since the end of last year, the global economy has started to recover gradually. However, the post-crisis economy is still fragile and unstable.
"Some situations occurred during the crisis are really worth our self-reflection," said Li Ling, director of the Hangzhou Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau. "For example, most export enterprises only enjoyed a profit rate of 3 to 5 percent during the crisis, which will easily turn to nothing with the appreciation of yuan."
In Li's eyes, the traditional development mode with low profit and high resource consumption needs to end. "We must pay more attention to innovation instead of simply relying on resources," Li said.
So this time, to help foreign trade companies get through the crisis and promote innovative development, the bureau has formed a foreign trade expert brain trust, involving some leaders and experts from the Ministry of Commerce and the Zhejiang government. Some famous professors from Hangzhou universities and executives of foreign trade companies will also become members of the brain trust.
"Before we could not learn what we needed to learn even after we visited the administration office several times," said a young boss of a Hangzhou foreign trade company. "But now, we can learn the regulations, policies and working procedures of administrations from the online platform. Even the information of foreign trade activities, such as lectures and consultation fairs, will also be published immediately on the platform. It's now very convenient for us to get something done with just a few mouse-clicks."
